Online Craps Rules and Gameplay
The rules of Craps are fairly simple. While it may seem that there are a ton of possible bets on the Craps table, which can make the game look scary, understanding just the basic Pass/Don’t Pass bet is completely sufficient to play the game. The other bets, known as proposition bets or props, are in place to make the game even more entertaining and exciting, but are not necessary for gameplay.
Playing Craps online is simple enough. Simply follow these steps and you will be able to play without even knowing the rules:
- Register with an online casino: First step is first! You will need an account with one of the online casinos that accept Canadian players that offer online Craps before you can play. Registering accounts with our partner casinos is free and quick, so pick one to get started.
- Start Craps: Browse through the games in the online casino interface and find Craps under the table games tab. Select Craps and start the Craps table.
- Place your first bet: There are many possible bets on the Craps table, but you will notice that most of them can’t be made immediately. You will need to select the Pass or Don’t Pass bet to start playing. For starters, we recommend simply making the Pass field and placing a small bet on it.
- Select Props: If you don’t crap out or win on the come our roll, you will have a chance to bet on props on consecutive rolls. Try betting some props to get a feel for them.
- Collect winnings: With a little luck, you will have won your initial bet and you can go back to step 3. However, make sure you check out what the bets mean in the section below as well, to make sure you are having fun while playing as well.
Online Craps Bets
When you first start a Craps table online, you will probably not feel very comfortable, as the table is split into numerous sections, each of which represents a type of a bet you can make. However, most players will simply start the game by betting Pass or Don’t Pass on the Come Out Roll. Online Craps do also allow you to bet the particular numbers that will come on the two dice and make a Field Bet and some other bets. Let’s explain some of these bets in more detail:
Pass Bet: The Pass Bet is the most basic bet in the game of Craps and one that is most commonly made by players. The Pass Bet is made on the Come Out roll. If the roll comes 7 or 11 (a Natural), you win double your stake. If the roll comes 2, 3 or 12 (Crap Out), you lose your stake. If the roll comes 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10, that number becomes The Point. If The Point is determined, the player continues to roll until he rolls The Point again, in which case he wins double his stake or a Seven in which case he loses his stake.
Don’t Pass Bet: The Don’t Pass Bet is pretty much the opposite of the Pass Bet. Rolls of 2 and 3 on Come Out roll are wins, rolls of 7 and 11 are losses, while 12 is a push. Other numbers become The Point and the dice are rolled again until either 7 is rolled or The Point is rolled. With Don’t Pass, the player needs to roll 7 to win and re-rolling The Point loses the bet.
Come Bet: A bet that can be placed by the player after their Come Out Roll, Come Bet is made by the player and placed on the first number that he rolls after placing it. The player then continues to roll until he either re-rolls that number, in which case he wins, or rolls a 7 in which case he loses. If you roll 7 or 11 on the first roll after placing a Come Bet you will win it immediately. If you roll 2, 3 or 11, you will lose immediately. All other numbers will have to be re-rolled for.
Field Bet: A single roll bet which is won if the roll comes 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12 and lost if it comes 5, 6, 7 or 8. If you roll 2 you will get paid 2:1 while rolling 12 will pay 3:1, and other wins pay even money.
Proposition Bets: Guessing how the next roll will come is called Prop betting. Proposition bets include Any Craps, Any Seven, Ace Duece, Eleven etc. The table tells you what you will get paid foe guessing the next roll. For instance getting the Any Craps bet correct will pay 7:1, while predicting Snake Eyes (one on both dice) pays 30:1
There are several other bets in Craps and you will discover these as you play. Understanding the bets listed here is more than enough for you to start playing and winning at online Craps.
House Edge And Odds Of Online Craps
The house edge in the game of Craps is not very high at all. The basic Pass/Don’t Pass bets only have a house edge of under 1.5% while betting additional Prop bets or other bets will add some more house edge on every roll. If you want even more information on the exact house edge of every bet you can make in Craps, make sure to check out our detailed guide to Craps odds.
